Nov 15,  · On the heels of the slew of 2-disc electric Miles, Sony has released from the vaults the full live Weather Report concert from November in Tokyo! With Shorter and Zawinul fresh out of Miles' band, this is definitely in that vein -- funky avant jazz fusion, not the catchier radio-friendly "Birdland" of a few years later/5(29).

Jun 12,  · Jazz fusion legends Weather Report will have a Live In London set released on CD for the very first time, on the Angel Air/Store For Music label on July The press information that Prog received simply states: "The exact details around the gig seem to be lost in the mist of time, though it was at some point in the 80s!" Weather Report only payed four London dates in the 80s - at Hammersmith.

During Weather Report launched their first live album, a double LP recorded in January at the Shibuya Kokaido Hall in Tokyo, Japan, entitled ''Live in Tokyo''.But inner conflicts were about to rise, as Zawinul had taken the decision to add some funky beats in the band's leapfcharletacombins.myomibimaconsifordchrominzutrarear.co this reason he invited Andrew White to play the.

Weather Report was an American jazz fusion band of the s and early s. The band was initially co-led by the Austrian-born keyboard player Joe Zawinul, the American saxophonist Wayne Shorter and Czech bassist Miroslav Vitouš.Other prominent members at various points in the band's lifespan included bassists Alphonso Johnson, Jaco Pastorius and Victor Bailey; and drummers/percussionists.

The only live release from the first era of WR, the Vitous-era, the one I consider the most essential and certainly the most adventuresome. Not exactly graced with a fantastic artwork, Live In Tokyo was recorded January 13, , and part of this concert was used to make I Sing The Body Electric (WR's second effort) and unfortunately we have these tracks reproduced here again/5(3).

In his subsequent recordings with Weather Report, and as a leader, Wayne Shorter would rarely equal the manic intensity he displayed in Tokyo. All of the music is encapsulated in five lengthy "medleys" of WR's repertoire, three of which contain elongated versions of themes from the group's eponymously titled debut album from
